I started my career as a graphic designer. Later, I wanted to expand and learn more, so I studied marketing. Now, I work as both a designer and a marketer, moving forward in my career.

After learning digital marketing, I started creating content. My Instagram reach increased, and I began getting opportunities in digital marketing.

The career in digital marketing is very big  it’s like the ocean with endless chances to grow and explore.

My Journey of career in digital marketing

I am a B.A. Economics degree holder. After that, I completed a 1-year graphic design course and worked on a few projects. Later, I joined Kannur Opentutor Academy to learn digital marketing. Along with that, I started an Instagram account and began content creation. Because of this, a few agencies hired me. But currently, I am not interested in working with an agency. I prefer to work as a freelancer.

That’s why digital marketing has a lot of scope. If you want, you can work as a social media marketer or an SEO specialist. You can also focus on designing a website, where you can easily earn a minimum of 10,000. Another option is to handle the entire marketing of a company. So, digital marketing has endless opportunities you just need to make good use of them.

What is SEO?

SEO helps to bring our brand or services to the top of search engine pages like Google, Yahoo, Baidu, and others, or make them more visible. To do this, we need to work on on-page SEO, off-page SEO, and technical SEO. Only by doing all of these can we reach the top.

Some of the tasks we need to do include writing blogs, creating articles, and building backlinks. These are important steps to improve SEO.

What is SMM?

SMM stands for Social Media Marketing. It means using social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and others to promote our business and run ads. We can use tools like Meta Business Suite to manage and run ads for the business. We can also retarget people who visit the website and create a business portfolio.

Web design

means creating our domain name and then connecting it with WordPress to build a good business website. The plugin used for designing the website is called Themify.

SEM

It means Search Engine Marketing. It involves showing ads on platforms like YouTube, Google, and third-party websites, and helping them appear at the top of search results. All of this is done through paid advertising.

Digital marketing is a great career option. A digital marketer is important for a business’s growth, learning, and earning income.

One of the biggest advantages is that we can choose the career path we like. We can select areas such as SEM, SMM, SEO, or web design and focus on the one we are most interested in.

Another benefit is that we can work from anywhere we want. We can travel and work from any part of the world while doing digital marketing.

When we get involved in digital marketing, we can use both creativity and business skills. For example, we can create creative content or posters and also analyze how well they perform.
