Title How to Update Macard WiFi Extender Firmware Safely?

Description

Updating any WiFi networking devices is most important forward step to make the device performance better. Here, we explain how to update Macard WiFi extender firmware from the interface: step-by-step.

Macard WiFi Extender Firmware Update

Step 1: Connect to the Extender

  • Power it on.

  • Wait for the WiFi light to go steady (could take a minute or two).

  • On your computer (or phone, if you’re brave), connect to the extender’s WiFi — probably something like MACARD_EXT or whatever yours says. No internet yet, that’s fine.

Step 2: Get into the Admin Panel

Open a browser. Type this in the address bar: http://192.168.10.1. If that doesn’t work, try: go.macard.online. Still nothing? You’re either not connected to the extender’s WiFi or it’s being stubborn. Reboot it. Try again.

Step 3: Log In

Default login is usually:

  • Username: admin

  • Password: admin

Step 4: Find the Firmware Update Option

This part’s kind of buried. Depending on your model, it’s usually under:

  • System Tools

  • Or Advanced Settings

  • Then look for Firmware Upgrade, Software Update, or something equally vague.

Click that.

Step 5: Download the Latest Firmware

Macard doesn’t auto-update. You have to go to their official site (or whatever sketchy support site came on the instruction slip), find your exact model, and manually download the .bin firmware file. Their support site is usually: macardtech.com/support/ (unless they’ve moved it again)

Look up your extender model (check the label on the back), download the firmware file to your desktop.

Step 6: Upload the File

Back in the admin panel:

  • Hit Browse or Choose File

  • Select the .bin file you just downloaded

  • Click Update or Upload

Now wait. Do. Not. Unplug. Anything.

Give it like 3–5 minutes. It’ll reboot itself.

Step 7: Reconnect

Once it restarts, reconnect to the extender’s WiFi. Sometimes the SSID changes back to default. Check the back of the device for the name/password if that happens. Go back into the admin panel, confirm the firmware version shows the new one. Boom. Done.

Quick Tips

  • If it bricks during update (power cut, bad file, who knows), try holding the reset button for 10+ seconds. It'll factory reset.

  • Only use firmware from Macard’s site. Don't grab random files from forums unless you like gambling with hardware.

  • Bookmark the admin page if you think you’ll forget how to get back in.

Troubleshooting Tips: Macard Extender Firmware Update

Get into the extender’s settings

You have to connect directly to the extender’s network. Like literally, go to your Wi-Fi list and connect to something like: MACARD_EXT or EXTENDER_SETUP or whatever it's named on your end. It's usually unsecured, or sometimes it’ll ask for a super basic password (check the bottom of the device or manual).

Then, open a browser and type: 192.168.10.1 (Don’t Google search it. Put it in the address bar.)

If that doesn’t work — try:

  • 192.168.0.254

  • Or just go to go.macard.online (but that one’s hit-or-miss honestly).

The login screen

You’ll hit a login page. Usually the default is:

  • Username: admin

  • Password: admin

If that doesn’t work, you or someone already changed it. Try whatever you think it might be. No clue? Factory reset time (tiny hole in the back, paperclip, hold it for like 10 seconds until lights blink).

Where’s the firmware update thing?

Okay. You’re in. Look for Advanced Settings or System Tools or something similar — it changes depending on the Macard model. Somewhere in there is Firmware Upgrade or Update Firmware.

Click it. You’ll probably see a “Choose File” button but no firmware in sight.

Finding the firmware

Macard doesn't always have a proper site for this. Sometimes they just give you some sketchy link in the manual or buried in Amazon replies.

If you can’t find it:

  • Go to their official site: https://macardtech.com or whatever domain they’re using now.

  • Or email their support — yeah it takes time, but they usually respond in a day or so

  • OR dig through Amazon Q&A or product reviews — sometimes people drop direct links there.

Upload the Firmware

Back to the extender admin panel — hit “Choose File,” upload the firmware file, and hit Update or Upgrade. It’ll freeze for a bit. That’s normal.

DO. NOT. UNPLUG. ANYTHING. Seriously. Wait it out. Might take 2–5 minutes. Lights might go dark, flash, reboot, whatever. Wait until you see the Wi-Fi network come back or get a “Success” message.
