| Tarsar Marsar is one of Kashmir's most stunning and accessible alpine lake treks, perfect if you want incredible scenery without the massive crowds of Kashmir Great Lakes. This 5-6 day journey starts from Aru Valley near Pahalgam and takes you through some seriously gorgeous terrain.
You'll trek through dense pine and birch forests, cross mountain streams, and walk across meadows bursting with wildflowers in summer. The first highlight is Tarsar Lake - a stunning emerald-green beauty surrounded by peaks where you'll camp overnight. Then you cross a ridge to reach the more remote Marsar Lake, equally spectacular.
The trek reaches around 13,000 feet with constant views of the massive Kolahoi Glacier (5,425m) towering above. It's graded moderate, making it ideal for first-time high-altitude trekkers or families with decent fitness.
Best time is June to September when weather's stable. You'll meet friendly Gujjar shepherds along the way. Less crowded, more intimate, but equally breathtaking!Claude is AI and can make mistakes. Please double-check responses. |
